Where Are We Going?

This retreat is a beautiful collaboration with the acclaimed ‘Reclaim Yourself Retreat Company’. You can read more about Jools Sampson and her company by clicking the ‘Join Us Today’ link at the bottom of this page. I am honored to be a member of her incredible team.

During the time of Diwali! (The Indian festival of light) this is a multi-destination trip, including an immersive journey through the spiritual heart of India. Travel from the secluded and quiet of Western shores to the bustling culture enriching cities of Varanasi and New Delhi.

Our retreat begins in Kochi, a laid-back harbour city on India’s southwest coast. The next morning, we journey into the hills to spend two nights in the tea plantations of Munnar. Next, we head to Lake Vembanad for three nights at a peaceful Ayurvedic retreat on the water’s edge. We’ll explore the backwaters by boat with a local guide, visit the Kuttanad community, and take a slow walk through coconut groves to see toddy tapping and glimpse the gentle rhythm of village life.

A short flight takes us to the sacred city of Varanasi — vibrant, intense, and unlike anywhere else on Earth. One of the world’s oldest inhabited cities and a place of deep spiritual significance,

We’ll practice yoga as the sun rises over the river and soak up the quiet, timeless beauty of this extraordinary place.

On our final evening, we’ll board the sleeper train for a night journey north to Delhi.

Our last 24 hours will be spent in Old Delhi, staying in a beautifully restored heritage haveli. Highlights include visiting Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque, and flying kites from the rooftop at sunset before sitting down to a 7-course farewell feast.

We stay in a series of carefully chosen hotels, heritage stays and characterful lodgings as we move through India, each offering comfort, strong locations, and a distinct sense of place.

Our first night is in Kochi, at a boutique heritage hotel where we can unwind from our arrival in India.

We then head to Munnar, where we stay for two nights on an elegant tea estate surrounded by vivid green plantations and mountain views.

Our next stay is for three nights at a lakeside Ayurvedic resort. This serene villa overlooks peaceful waters and offers a swimming pool, an Ayurvedic spa and wellness centre, and beautifully kept gardens.

In Varanasi, we stay for two nights at the BrijRama Palace, a striking heritage hotel set directly on the riverfront. With grand interiors and views across the Ganges,

We then travel overnight to Delhi on one of India’s legendary sleeper trains, staying in 1st class air-conditioned four-berth cabins.

For our final night, we stay in Old Delhi at a restored heritage haveli with beautifully designed ensuite rooms set around a central courtyard. Full of atmosphere and history, it is a fitting final stop to the journey.
