Where Are We Going?
This retreat is a beautiful collaboration with the acclaimed ‘Reclaim Yourself Retreat Company’. You can read more about Jools Sampson and her company by clicking the ‘Join Us Today’ link at the bottom of this page. I am honored to be a member of her incredible team.
Bhutan is an almost entirely mountainous nation set in the Eastern Himalayas, known for its striking architecture, monasteries and prayer flags, vast landscapes, and welcoming people.
We begin our retreat in Punakha, where we spend three nights practising yoga and settling into the rhythm of the journey. From here, we hike to Chimmi Lhakhang, and up to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Temple,.
We’ll also visit the impressive Punakha Dzong and gain insight into Bhutan’s Buddhist culture.
We then travel to the Phobjikha Valley for three nights. While here, we visit Gangtey Monastery, dating back to the 17th century, and walk a scenic nature trail through the valley.
Next, we head to Thimphu, the capital, where we stay for two nights.
Our final two nights are spent in Paro. From here, we take on the pilgrimage to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most iconic sites. Set high on a sheer cliff face, the monastery is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the country and offers a fitting final experience to the trip.

- perhaps your dream will turn into a reality -
We stay in a series of carefully chosen hotels and lodges as we move through Bhutan, each offering comfort, great locations, and a strong sense of place.
Our first stay is in Punakha, at a spa hotel set high above the valley with wide views across the landscape.
In Phobjikha, we stay in a more remote, traditional-style lodge surrounded by pine forests in the Gangtey Valley. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with ensuite bathrooms and wood-burning stoves for warmth,
Our third stay is in Thimphu, at a well-located hotel set on the valley slopes, with views towards the Tashicho Dzong, the Buddha Dordenma, and the surrounding mountains.
For our final two nights, we stay in Paro at a spa hotel set on the edge of the national forest near Ngoba village. The rooms are traditionally designed with modern touches, and there is time here to relax and make use of the spa after the journey.
