Where Are We Going?

This retreat is a beautiful collaboration with the acclaimed ‘Reclaim Yourself Retreat Company’. You can read more about Jools Sampson and her company by clicking the banner at the bottom of this page. I am honored to be a member of her incredible team.

We’ll be based in the small fishing town of Stykkishólmur, often described as a living museum thanks to its beautifully preserved historic houses and working harbour. The town sits on Breiðafjörður Bay, a wide, island-filled bay surrounded by mountains and renowned for its natural beauty and marine life.

Once in West Iceland, mornings begin with the option to visit the local swimming pools, a much-loved part of Icelandic daily life. Yoga takes place in a beautiful, spacious, fully equipped studio located just next door to our accommodation.

Over the course of the retreat, you’ll experience a series of guided activities that connect you deeply with this region. We’ll explore nearby islands on a boat trip out into Breiðafjörður Bay, spend time visiting small coastal towns, and visit the iconic mountain Kirkjufell, one of Iceland’s most recognisable natural landmarks. We’ll also take a whale-watching trip from Ólafsvík.

On land, we’ll walk up Helgafell, considered sacred by many locals. Tradition says that if you climb the hill without looking back, make a wish at the top, and descend without turning around, your wish may come true.

Autumn in West Iceland brings crisp air, softer light, and far fewer visitors. There is also a good chance of seeing the northern lights on clear evenings. This retreat offers the chance to experience a peaceful, authentic part of Iceland that many travelers never reach.

I would encourage you to step put of your comfort zone just a little bit and build unique memories that will last a lifetime.

Our home on retreat is a peaceful wilderness far from the tourist hotspots.

You’ll stay in two small boutique hotels on the harbour, directly opposite one another. Both are distinctive historic buildings with curved roofs, carefully renovated to a modern boutique standard. Interiors blend contemporary design with original character, and rooms are small but bright, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped, offering a calm and practical base between days out in the landscape.

October is an ideal time to see the Northern Lights. Our remote location means that if they happen, we will have a fantastic show!
